Senior Nina Escobedo has been a triathlete at UCHS for the past three years, playing volleyball, waterpolo and swim. She not only plays the sport, but goes beyond that and completely excels at all three sports.
“My favorite sport that I play is waterpolo, because it is like a mixture of the other two so it gives me all in one,” said Escobedo.
Escobedo is attending Indiana University in the fall on a waterpolo scholarship and plans on playing waterpolo for a long time. “I will play waterpolo in college, then I plan on moving back down to San Diego and coaching a high school team, hopefully for UC,” said Escobedo.
Not only does Escobedo play three sports during the school year, and goes beyond expectation in all of them, but she also has maintained above a 4.0 GPA throughout all of her years in high school. “Grades are important. I have always gone to games then come home and done homework and go to class and do my work that needs to be done,” said Escobedo.
Nina has enjoyed a variety of her classes that she has taken at UC, but her favorite class has been English. “I like the subject English, and I have had really good teachers throughout the years,” said Escobedo.
Nina is involved in the world of sports and has been for a very long time. “I did competitive gymnastics for eight years, and then I went to do swim when I was in high school. I really enjoy it all,” said Escobedo.
“I have learned so much playing sports, They have taught me how to be more confident and how to work well with others,” said Escobedo.
