UC High celebrated San Diego State University’s unforeseen advancement in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Men’s March Madness Tournament, culminating in a runner-up position on April 3.

History Teacher and SDSU Alumnus Daniel Millard said, “It made me proud to be a San Diegan. We’re not exactly known as a big-time sports town, but the Padres made it to the National League Championship Series and now we made it to the NCAA finals. It’s really cool, and I want to see more of it.”

“I mean come on, with this kind of support, Aztec nation; we’re so excited. We wish we could have brought the title home. It didn’t happen but we’re really proud of our effort and happy we could bring this kind of excitement to San Diego,” SDSU Coach Dutcher said to NBC San Diego (nbcsandiego.com).

According to National Public Radio (NPR), this is the first time that the San Diego State Aztecs have made it to the final four in the March Madness NCAA tournament (npr.com).
