Comic-Con Comes Back

As a result of a reduction in COVID-19 cases, Comic-Con will make its return for the first time in three years, being held in the San Diego Convention Center from July 21 to 24.

According to the Comic-Con official website, there will be many famous writers of well-known comics present at the convention throughout the weekend. The list includes Ryan Benjamin, artist of X-men, Iron Man and Batman Beyond, Kevin Eastman, co-founder of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Sina Grace, writer/artist of Iceman, Wonder Woman, and the Haunted Mansion (comic-con.org).

“There will also be many new events and actors arriving from all over the world and though yet to have been announced, be prepared for a wide array of activities,” stated the Comic-Con official website (comic-con.org).

According to an unofficial guide to the event, “Actors including Robert Pattinson, Ezra Miller, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, and Zoë Kravitz may likely visit the event” (way.com).

According to the official Comic-Con website, free “quick guides” and “events guides” will be handed out to all attendees, while supplies last (comic-con.org).

According to the San Diego Comic-Con blog, “All badges for the Comic-Con have been sold, but there is still a way to obtain them. If you want to attend Comic-Con 2022, you can volunteer; this will guarantee you a badge for the day” (sdccblog.com).

According to the San Diego Comic-Con blog, the current COVID-19 policy is that all attendees will have to wear a mask covering both the mouth and nose. People will also have to either show a full vaccination card or a negative COVID-19 test from the past 72 hours (sdccblog.com).

According to the Fox 5 San Diego News website, Comic-Con hotels will soon open for people who don’t want to be far from the Convention Center. These hotels will fill up fast so if one wants to get a spot, they should reserve it as soon as it is open for reservations (fox5sandiego.com).

According to Junior You-Ho Yang, “Last time I went to Comic-Con I had a great time, but that was three years ago. Now I can’t wait to go again. I have only heard rumors, but I feel that this Comic-Con lineup is going to be stacked.”

“Moody’s, the fictional restaurant from the world and films of Kevin Smith, will be bringing its popular Pop-Up to San Diego Comic-Con this summer to the Tin Roof [located on 401 G Street],” according to the Comic-Con blog (sdccblog.com).
