Top Ten Most Anticipated Films of 2024

With a new year’s worth of content now on our horizon, there are endless movie projects to anticipate as the months pass. 2024 has a variety of exciting films to amuse and surprise moviegoing audiences, chief among them the following ten.

10.) Inside Out 2 – Looking to rekindle the magic struck almost a decade ago with the beloved Inside Out, this sequel introduces Riley to a variety of new emotions as she navigates teenagehood. Expected to release on June 14, 2024, this new installment is bound to bring Pixar fans together and tug on heartstrings.

9.) A Quiet Place: Day One – As one of horror’s most consistent franchises, A Quiet Place has found inventive ways of keeping audiences thrilled. Although little is currently known about Day One, it is expected to illustrate the beginnings of the previous films’ alien invasion.

8.) Maxxine – A24’s surprise double- header of hit horror films X and Pearl will finally have its trilogy capper with Maxxxine. Set in the 1980s amidst the intoxicating Hollywood underworld, the film has amassed an all-star cast.

7.) Challengers – Delayed from its initial September 2023 release date during the Screen Actors Guild strikes, Director Luca Guadagnino’s latest is finally set to hit theaters on April 26, 2024, as per film database IMDb (imdb.com). Centered on a love triangle within the world of professional tennis, Challengers is likely to be yet another observant exploration of young love and desire by Guadagnino.

6.) Megalopolis – Director Francis Ford Coppola, a filmmaking legend thanks to the Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now, has made his passion project Megalopolis. With Coppola financing the film himself with a 120 million dollar budget, as per Indiewire, expect Megalopolis to be among the boldest, most risk-taking cinematic visions of 2024 (indiewire.com).

5.) Furiosa – Contextualizing the iconic character’s beginnings after being kidnapped by a biker horde, the newest crusade within the Mad Max universe promises to astound with more edge-of-your-seat action. With Actress Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the role popularized by Charlize Theron, look no further than Furiosa for some of the year’s biggest thrills.

4.) Nosferatu – As the latest iteration of this Dracula-based tale, Nosferatu may maintain many of the original 1922 film’s plot, yet looks to be an unmatched visual treat. All signs indicate a chill-inducing experience come its Christmastime release, according to i-D magazine (i-d. vice.com).

3.) Mickey 17 – Successfully following one of the most acclaimed and influential films of the Twenty First Century may sound like a tough endeavor, yet Parasite Director Bong Joon-Ho seems to do just that with Mickey 17. Given a blockbuster- level budget to execute this adaptation of Author Edward Ashton’s novel, this will be the director’s most ambitious project
yet.

2.) Kinds of Kindness – Hot on the heels of awards darling Poor Things, Director Yorgos Lanthimos reconnects with various collaborators in his latest feature, which tells three separate stories in contemporary America, as per The Guardian (amp.theguardian.com).

1.) Dune: Part Two – Picking up right where the previous installment closed, this second chapter will cap off the epic space opera’s main storyline. The wait for Dune: Part Two will be short, with the film releasing in the United States on March 1.
