Struggling to come up with date ideas for Valentine’s Day? Here are 10 great ones to consider!

10.) Karaoke- Valentine’s Day dates are fun whether it’s your first or hundredth. Karaoke is a great way to get to know someone, as you can easily learn more about their personality and have a whole lot of fun together. Who knows, you may end up surprised by your date’s singing skills.

9.) Amusement parks- If you and your date are looking for a rush of adrenaline, amusement parks are the way to go. Places like Belmont Park and SeaWorld are San Diego staples. This is a great way to see the more courageous side of your date. You can even share a cotton candy if all goes well.

8.) Ice blocking- Put on some warm clothes and head down to Kate Sessions Park for ice blocking! This is a very unique experience that consists of laying down a blanket on a block of ice and riding down the park’s hills. You get to have fun while enjoying the view of San Diego.

7.) Horseback riding- Riding down the beach on top of a horse with your date while watching the sunset is definitely a date to remember. While not without potential dangers, this can still be an enjoyable and adventurous way of spending your Valentine’s Day while still staying safe.

6.) Mini golf- This activity can create some unforgettable date moments, as you get to see your date’s competitive nature. If it’s one of your first dates, it gives you an excellent opportunity to break the ice. Pro tip: Make sure to let your partner win.

5.) Pottery painting- This is a creative way of showing off your painting skills. While not necessary, a painting competition can also lead to great fun. Just don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want to get dirty. If you’re more of a heartfelt person, you could choose to paint something for your date or put a sentimental meaning behind your pottery.

4.) Bonfire at the beach- Grab some blankets and wood and go to any of the local beaches. Crown Point, Mission Beach, and La Jolla Shores are excellent places to set your evening bonfire date. S’mores and hot chocolate can also go a long way. Get all cozy, watch the stars, and have a great chat with your significant other.

3.) Restaurant- While it may sound boring and old school, going out to dinner remains one of the most effective ways of spending time with someone you want to get to know better. Have a lovely conversation with your date and don’t let them pay the check! As a piece of advice, maybe stay away from the messy food items.

2.) Drive-in movie- Though a movie theater date remains a strong contender, a drive-in could end up being the smarter choice. You don’t have to worry about anyone but you and your date. Talking is much easier, as you’re in control of the volume, not to mention you are closer to your date, and farther from others.

1.) Sunset picnic- San Diego has some of the most gorgeous sunsets, so what’s a better way to spend your Valentine’s Day than having a sunset picnic? Take your favorite blankets and snacks, then meet at your date’s desired picnic spot. Whether in Balboa Park, Sunset Cliffs, or Liberty Station, it’s a super romantic way to spend the most romantic day of the year.
