With his senior year coming to a close, Quinn Obrigewitch has definitely left a lasting impression on the Football and Track Teams. He has been a part of the football and track programs for all four years of high school. On the Football Team, he is a very hardworking O-Line and D-Line, and in his senior year, he was an outstanding captain for the team. During the spring, while participating in track, Obrigewitch exceled in discus.
Choosing to play sports in high school can be overwhelming, but Obrigewitch wouldn’t have it any other way. “I played football and track, because I wanted to try something new; these sports were the most appealing to me. Playing these sports has allowed me to enjoy making new friends and building good relationships with them,” said Obrigewitch.
Obrigewitch believes that his hard work has led to his high performance in both football and track. “I’ve become successful in football and track by working hard during both the on and off seasons,” said Obrigewitch.
Playing two time-consuming sports can make it hard to stay on top of all your schoolwork. However, Obrigewitch has found a way to excel academically while working hard in sports. “School is definitely harder when playing two sports, but having good time management makes it much easier,” Obrigewitch said.
Junior Judson Grubbs said that Obrigewitch was always available. “Being on the track team with Obrigewitch is fun. Although I do sprints and he throws, before we start doing our own things during practice, we talk. He is always a nice guy to be around,” said Grubbs.
With his exceptional performance in discus, Grubbs would definitely say Obrigewitch stands out as a track player. “Obrigewitch is definitely a standout player. Consistently during the times I have run track, he has scored lots of varsity points, helping lead the boys team to a League Championship two years ago and a favorable winning record last year,” said Grubbs.
Although there are no official captains for track, Grubbs believes Obrigewitch possesses the leadership skills required. “Obrigewitch has definitely been a leader on the team. He sets a good example for others on the team and helps other players and coaches,” said Grubbs. Being such an important player, Obrigewitch’s looming graduation will be sad for his teammates. Grubbs expressed that he will miss making memories with his teammate.
Junior Tucker Wojdoski enjoyed playing varsity football with Obrigewitch over the past couple of years. “Playing football with Obrigewitch these past three years has been fun, because he is a very easy-going person to be around and helps out the other players who have a lot to improve on,” said Wojdowski.
After playing for so long with Obrigewitch, Wojdowski has really learned what kind of player and traits he brings to the team. “One unique quality that Obrigewitch has is level-headedness, which is a trait that everyone on the team should adopt,” said Wojdowski.
Wojdowski recalls one of the many times Obrigewitch excelled on the football field. “Obrigewitch has made a lot of great plays in his three years on varsity. The one that I remember the best was his diving interception against West Hills this past season on the first drive of the game, which got the whole team hyped,” said Wojdowski.
