From teeing off to hitting drives, our Boys Golf Team is stirring up the competition this season. Things are heating up as the team cruises through the League on the green. Golfers have been working hard individually and as a team to get the best scores possible with high hopes for upcoming CIFs.
Junior Parker Richardson talked about why he likes to play. “The team dynamic this year is pretty positive and supportive. Everyone gets along well and pushes each other to improve, which makes practices and matches more enjoyable,” said Richardson.
Being in a fairly individual sport, it is important to have a magnetic team. “Overall, the team has a strong sense of teamwork. Even though golf is an individual sport, we still encourage each other and celebrate each other’s success,” said Richardson.
Richardson talked about how he enjoys the atmosphere that golf offers. “What I enjoy most about golf is being out in nature and the calm environment. It’s relaxing but also challenging, which makes it a really unique sport,” said Richardson.
Junior Kade Hinkleman mentioned why he began playing the sport. “My friend Quynn convinced me to try it, and I really liked it. What I enjoy most about the sport is that it is fun to play with my friends and just have a good time. And now, after playing for some time, my goals are to lower my handicap by 5 and have fun,” said Hinkleman.
Hinkleman expressed how golf isn’t as team-oriented as other sports, yet a good team dynamic is still important. “Golf is a mostly individual sport since it’s just you swinging the club, but having friends that help give advice is very important,” said Hinkleman.
Junior Quynn Thibodeau talked about how he feels the season has been progressing. “The season’s been pretty solid so far. We’ve had some ups and downs, but overall, I think we’re improving a lot as a team and starting to figure things out,” said Thibodeau.
Thibodeau has set goals for himself to improve and make the most of his junior season. “For me, my main goals this season are to keep improving my game, stay consistent, and help the team however I can. I also want to perform well in big matches and not fold under pressure,” said Thibodeau.
As the season has progressed, it is important that there is team chemistry, especially going into CIFs. Thibodeau believes that this season, the team has been working great together. “As a team, I think we’re connecting really well. At the start, it took a little time, but now our chemistry is getting a lot better both in games and at practice. Everyone is starting to trust each other more, and it is making a big difference,” said Thibodeau.
Thibodeau is confident in his hope that the team can do well as long as they continue to keep up at the pace that they are going. “I definitely have high hopes for CIFs this year. If we keep playing how we’ve been lately and keep getting better, I think we can make a pretty good run,” said Thibodeau.
