Prom is just around the corner, and making it a great night starts with a great dinner. The historic El Cortez will be the venue for this year’s Prom, located in Downtown. Downtown San Diego is known for numerous amazing restaurants, which should make deciding on a meal before the dance a piece of cake, regardless of your price range.

Busalacchi’s A Modo Mio is a well known Italian restaurant located on Fifth Avenue. It has tables available in either an indoor dining room or outdoor patio. The price range per person at Busalacchi’s ranges from 11-30 dollars per entree, and is a formal and elegant way to begin your night (busalacchis.com).

Looking for dinner with a great view of San Diego’s downtown bay and skyline? Mister A’s is perfect for you. Located at the top of one of the tallest buildings on Fifth Avenue, Mister A’s has one of the best views in San Diego. “I went there for my birthday last year. The scallops were so good. It was a really nice restaurant and had amazing food,” said Junior Damen Kohli. The menu is small, usually with three entree choices that change everyday. Mister A’s is an expensive choice in dining, but the view and the food make it worth it (asrestaurant.com).

Want to grab a quick bite on the way to the dance? Make a quick stop at Cotixan, located 10 minutes from the venue on Camino Del Rio, if you want a tasty burrito for under 10 dollars.

If you’re going to dinner with friends, Dick’s Last Resort is a good choice. Located on Fourth Avenue, Dick’s Last Resort costs around 20 dollars per person and is great for group dinners (dickslastresort.com).

Fish Market, located on Harbor Drive in Downtown, is a seafood restaurant with a bay view. It has sushi and fish tacos for an affordable price. It will be grreat for a quick bite before the dance (thefishmarket.com).

Donovan’s Steak and Chop House is located on K Street and is known for having outstanding steak and seafood. Donovan’s is a bit pricey, but the food is second to none, and is located near the El Cortez (donovanssteakhouse.com).

So with all the amazing options in Downtown, the most difficult question of the night might be how to start it.  Do plan ahead, make a choice and make a reservation. You date will be bummed out if you show up to an hour-long wait. Eat well and have a fabulous Prom.
