Lien’s Love for Badminton

With badminton being one of the biggest passions in her life, Senior Christina Lien is a strong and dedicated player when she is on the badminton court. “I love badminton. It is not so much a competition for me; it’s more of a relaxing sport where I can just have fun, and I just happen to be pretty good at it,” said Lien.

“If I had to choose my favorite part of playing badminton, it would be slamming the bird,” she exclaimed.

Lien has been playing badminton since middle school. Having starting the sport in eighth grade, she has put numerous hours of practice into it. “I have been playing since the eighth grade, and as soon as I started playing,  I knew that I liked playing very much.  said Lien.

Lien has always enjoyed support from her family to continue playing and getting better. “I love that my family supports me. Without them, I for sure wouldn’t be able to get as far as I am today,” said Lien.

One of Lien’s goals this season is to make it back to CIF and win. “We made it to CIF last year, and I did pretty well, but this year, I hope to get farther and maybe even win. It will take a lot of practice to be able to do it, but I know that I have the potential to be able to do it,” said Lien.

Though Lien knows her strengths, she is also aware of the aspects of her play that she can improve upon. “I need to work on my slams and my returns, because those are my weak points. I practice those points everyday after school with my team, and I can feel that I am getting better at them, but still, I know I can get better,” said Lien.
