Position: Senior Nicci Bermudes plays forward and center midfield for soccer and midfield in field hockey
Experience: Bermudes has been playing soccer since the age of five. “I’ve been playing club since I was eight, which is very competitive and we travel a lot,” said Bermudes. “I started field hockey when I was in freshman year,” said Bermudes. “One year we got disqualified from CIF for soccer. It was horrible,” said Bermudes. “That’s one thing I’ll never forget,” she said. “This year we beat Cathedral in soccer and that was really cool, because we usually never win against them. We also got to CIF this year,” said Bermudes. “You could put Nicci at any position in soccer and she would do great there,” said Senior Payton Agnew. “She’s always very committed to everything she does,” said Agnew.
Background: In the fall Bermudes will be attending Aurora University near Chicago, Illinois where she plans to major in Criminal Justice. Bermudes has a strong passion for all the sports she plays. “A lot of people in my family have always played sports so I started playing a lot of sports and soccer was my favorite,” said Bermudes. “My freshman year I wanted to do a fall sport, so I got into field hockey. I really liked it, so I just kept with it. I’ve been on varsity field hockey for 3 years now,” said Bermudes. Bermudes has been playing club soccer since she was eight and made varsity freshman year. “My favorite thing about soccer is scoring and making the goal,” said Bermudes. She is honored to be on first-team all-league for both sports, which is a team made up of the top ten athletes from different high schools. Some of Bermudes’ hobbies include going camping with her family, rock climbing, and reading. “I volunteer for soccer, but it mostly has to do with sports.”
Quote: “I had fun playing both sports all four years here and am looking forward to playing soccer in college next fall,” said Bermudes.
