Athlete: Senior Reiss Haslam
Position: Team Captain of Varsity Boys Cross Country
Experience: Has been running Cross Country since seventh grade
Background: Riess Haslam has run at least 4,300 miles throughout his high school career. Some of his most memorable moments in cross country were his trips to Minnesota and Stanford races. Haslam remembers every CIF and State meet he has ever raced in, and the great runners and fans that made every race unforgettable. Haslam also flies small planes as a student pilot at Montgomery Field. He plans to pursue cross country throughout college, making the sport a major influence in his life.
Quote: “I figured out what my body is capable of, and I’m not afraid to push that limit anymore. To be a good runner, you have to be willing to go to some mental and physical places that other athletes just aren’t willing to go to,” said Haslam.
