Audio Club Provides Musical Channel For Students

Senior David Cerignoli and Senior Conner Platt are co-founders and co-presidents of the Audio Club, a new club focusing on teaching students about being creative with music and audio, which meets in Room 231 every other Thursday at  lunchtime.

When asked why he established the Audio club this year, Cerignoli responded, “Because I felt like there was a population of students that were interested in producing music but studio time wasn’t accessible for anyone. Since we have a nice studio in our video production class I chose to make a club that could take advantage of that and expose students to the making of music.”

Platt added that the Audio Club also grew out of Music Club and explained how it started: “We wanted to start the Audio club to bring people together to work in the school studio and treat it  like a recording studio type of thing. We all come together and work on our different genres of music and help others who need it.”

Platt and Cerignoli are both extremely passionate about music. “When you just have a melody in your head and you transcribe it perfectly into the beat, the message, and the feeling you were looking for, it’s a pretty satisfying feeling and it gets me more excited than I should be,” said Cerignoli. Platt said, “It’s the way I express myself and it’s what I do almost every single day when I can. My favorite genre is rock. I play in a band called IFNWHEN and we cover songs and make our own music. I’ve been playing in that band for about eight years. But being in that band has influenced me to write and start producing my own rock acoustic music. It motivated me to put out my first album.”

Cerignoli explained, “Making music is something you should definitely expose yourself to… even when you’re just starting out and even if you don’t understand. Just watching people do it and learning it is really cool.”
Senior Isaac Torres, a recent member of the club, said, “I joined Audio Club to meet new people who were also interested in making music. I think that a lot of people who make music have a hard time sharing it and Audio Club helps these people come together and share it.” He added, “For me, my favorite thing is being able to make something that has never been made before. Every time I make music it is different and just makes me feel good to say I did something.”

Cerignoli shined a light on why someone should join the Audio Club, “You should definitely join. It’s fun. You should try it out. It takes some time to get the hang of it but once you understand it, it’s really really fun.” Isaac added, “People should join Audio Club for the ability to learn and have fun. Music can seem scary and really complicated, but when you learn the basics, it becomes the thing that you want to do all day long.”
