UC High’s marching band and color guard have had a record-breaking season this year.

Both the band and color guard placed first at Rancho Bernardo High, Mount Carmel High, and Serra High, according to Band Director Brandon Corenman. The band won the AM Sweepstakes at Mira Mesa High. They also  received a silver medal at the SCSBOA (Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association) 2A Field Championships.

“This fall, the band and color guard participated in five regular-season competitions plus Southern California Championships. This is the third year in UC High history that the program has qualified for SCSBOA Championships and the first time earning a medal,” explained Corenman.

“There are many specific goals for the band program, but one of the most important ones is to continually pursue excellence in everything we do. We strive to honor the students who came before by building upon their foundation of hard work. I became music director in 2012 and since then, there has been a continual effort by the students, coaches, parents, administration, and myself to raise the level of our program,” said Corenman.
