On June 10, UCHS will be hosting this year’s Grad Nite in the gym, where seniors can celebrate graduating from high school with all of their friends one last time.
According to the official UCHS Grad Nite Ticket Order Form, Grad Nite will start at 8:30 p.m., and will end the next morning at 5:00 a.m. Students must arrive at the gym before 10:00 p.m., and they are not allowed to leave until after 4:00 a.m. unless a parent/guardian is called (exceptions apply). Ticket prices started at $65 at the beginning of the school year until Thanksgiving Break. They then rose to $75 up until Spring Break. The current price for Grad Nite tickets are $85 per ticket, and that price will rise after June 8 to $95.
According to Grad Nite Coordinator Julie Castan, “This is the 20-year anniversary for the event which was started as a way to give graduates a safe place to celebrate in a drug and alcohol free environment.”
Grad Nite will feature many different activities, including jousting, ride-a-bull, and a bungee pull. Also, there will be a mini casino, a money machine, caricature drawing, make-your-own music video, massage tables and much more, according to Castan.
Senior Zac St. Louis said, “Grad Nite should be fun. I have not bought my ticket yet, but I am looking forward to riding the mechanical bull.”
“Another big hit is Memory Lane – this conglomeration of photos will bring both laughs and nostalgic moments. Parents are submitting photos of their students and their friends now for the wall of entertainment. After the event, the photos are given to the Senior Class President for safe keeping until the first high school reunion,” said Castan.
There will be an all-you-can-eat buffet that will be open all night. Some of the dishes will include taquitos, sushi, pizza, sandwiches, floats, smoothies, sodas, water and coffee, reported Castan.
Senior David Chang said, “I’m looking forward to Grad Nite, because it’s the last time you’ll be at UC with all your friends. After graduation, coming back to school just to have fun all night until the morning is something you cannot miss. It should be a fun night to remember.”
