The annual Senior Disneyland Trip will be held on June 8, in order for senior students to celebrate graduation with their friends and fellow class of 2011 students at the Disneyland amusement park.
According to the flyer handed out to UC seniors, students will arrive at the school by 8:45 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., the students will leave the school and will not be back until 7:30 a.m. According to PTSA member Brook Feerick, chaperones will take attendance at the school and hand out the tickets. “We also call any missing people, to see if they changed their minds. It happens every year,” said Feerick.
The trip was planned back in August or September 2010. Busses and tickets are booked through a company called Adventures America, accoding to Ferrick. “After booking, we leave the event alone until we start selling tickets,” said Feerick. The PTSA plans the trip every year for the seniors. He added that University City High does not plan the trip, because of liability.
There will be two chaperones per bus, according to Feerick. They are there to make sure that students behave throughout the trip. Chaperones attend the trip for free. He explained that there will be a place at Disneyland dedicated for chaperones to eat and rest during the trip.
According to the Disneyland Grad Nite Website, the park is closed to the public and is opened exclusively for high school seniors. All the rides will be opened for the students to enjoy, as well as music from Latin, hip-hop, dance, and top-40 music stations. There will also be a fireworks show that night called Grad Nite Explosion (disneyyouth.com).
